Game Mode Framework
We’re excited to share that after a year of development, the first version of the Game Mode Framework is now live on 4Classic. To introduce this new system, we’re launching it with a brand-new mode: Return of the Monsters, a wave-based PvE experience designed for cooperative play.
What Is the Game Mode Framework?
The Game Mode Framework is a new system built to make creating, updating, and maintaining game modes faster and more flexible. It allows us to:
- Add new modes, maps, and features instantly - no server restarts or client patches required.
- Reuse and expand matchmaking systems across multiple modes.
- Share features between game modes for a more dynamic experience.
This framework is a major step toward delivering more content and community-requested features with less downtime and faster iteration.
How to Access the Game Mode Framework
A new Game Mode button is now available in the game HUD, next to the Cash Shop and Cash Cabinet. You can also access it via the Mission Maps tab in the Guild Overview.
From the new Game Mode Overview, you can:
- Browse all available modes (for example, Return of the Monsters, Battle of Iberia).
- View details like next start times, status, and special conditions.
- Enter lobbies for 24/7 modes directly.
Return of the Monsters - Beta Live Now
Return of the Monsters is a cooperative, wave-based PvE mode available 24/7. Form a group of four and battle through 16 increasingly challenging stages. Teams lose if all members fall, but everyone is revived at the start of each new stage. Some skills have been adjusted or disabled for balance.
At launch, only the Easy version is available. A Hardcore version is planned for a future update.
Beta Information
- The mode is currently in beta (approximately 1–2 weeks).
- Rewards earned during beta cannot yet be exchanged but will become redeemable once beta ends.
- During beta, all players use standardized gear: +22 Lv. 38 armor and a +23 Lv. 38 weapon.
- After beta, players will use their own gear in the mode.
We invite everyone to try the new mode and share feedback as we refine the experience.
Item Shop Update
The Item Shop has new additions to celebrate the Game Mode Framework launch:
- Capybara Mount
- Toji Costume
- Mysterious Treasure Chest - Magic Capybara
Additional Updates
- Added a "Show All" button to the Ranking UI for extended rankings.
- Added a confirmation prompt for resetting Auction House favorites.
- Fixed an issue where teleporting while joining a game mode could leave players stuck outside.
- You get a letter with Information on the Item that has been sold in the Remote Shop
